This TRIPLE-DISC tuition programme is the first part of a two-part series that will provide NCEA Level 2 Chemistry (AS 90311) students with detailed coverage and practise of Electrochemistry. By leading students on a route of discovery, this programme (Part 1) will provide a solid grounding in oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions, exposing links to other topics (to assist students in constructing knowledge) and covering the significance, rules and application of rules to redox reactions and problems. The aim of this tuition programme is to make difficult Electrochemistry concepts easy to understand through simple and clear explanations: students will understand and effortlessly learn the relevant concepts without being actively aware of learning.

Note, if you are a Cambridge student then you will also benefit greatly from this programme, as this tuition programme covers a wider range of objectives and hence provides even more content than covered in the first year of your A-levels. And as always our content is taught at the highest standard, whether our programmes are aimed at the NCEA curriculum, or at the Cambridge syllabus.

Key features

* Difficult concepts become simple with clear and detailed explanations
* Supports all levels of student ability through being able to work at any pace i.e. the DVD presentation allows pausing, skipping, reviewing etc. The student is in control.
* Carefully designed and structured teaching supports student learning through consistency
* Misunderstandings and misconceptions are identified and addressed through coverage of common mistakes and pitfalls
* Ample reinforcement of learned concepts through numerous worked examples and exercises of different levels of complexity
* Opportunity for student extension through the provision of challenging problems
* Preparation for examinations through exam-standard worked examples and exercises
* Running time of approximately 5 hours; teaching and learning time approximately 50 hours depending on student ability.

Chapters on this DVD cover

How to identify, recognise and discuss oxidation-reduction processes; oxidation number rules (states) and their application; how to balance half-equations; the appearance of common oxidants and reductants; how to describe expected observations of redox processes; how to write completed and balanced redox reactions; and how to recognise and discuss the ability of halogens to act as oxidants in reactions with other halides and water. For each section, the concept is taught, examples are covered in detail, and then exercises are provided for the students to complete. These exercises are then worked through thereafter, step-by-step, allowing the student to check both their answers and working.

A quote from one of our satisfied customers: "I have bought all revision aids out there, but none are as effective as yours."

Electrochemistry is continued in Part 2 (to be released).
