Commonly asked questions
Educational Tuition Programmes
1. Your DVDs are more expensive than movies I can buy from cheap online stores. Why?
We do not sell entertainment movies, we only sell comprehensive tuition programmes that are on DVD for easy viewing on a TV or computer (including Apple Mac). If you are interested in a comparison of prices:
- One of our Cambridge Differentiation DVDs retails for $29 which typically consists of 15 hours of teaching and learning time.
- 15 hours of shared tuition at a popular education centre will cost approximately $900.
NCEA and Cambridge
- When your child is in Year 11, they would typically be studying NCEA Level 1. Level 1 NCEA corresponds with the Cambridge IGCSE Level (you may know this as O-Levels).
- When your child is in Year 12, they will typically be studying NCEA Level 2. Level 2 NCEA typically corresponds with the first year of Cambridge A-Levels. You may have heard this referred to as "the AS-Level". For Mathematics this Level is commonly referred to as A-Level Pure Mathematics 1 (P1).
- When your child is in Year 13, they will typically be studying NCEA Level 3. Level 3 NCEA typically corresponds with the second year of Cambridge A-Levels. You may have heard this referred to as "the A2-Level".
The "I" stands for "International". If your child is studying outside of the UK, they will typically be enrolled in the IGCSE Level.
3. What is the typical duration for A-Levels?
Two years. The first half will comprise the AS-Level, and that will make up 50% of the overall A-Level grade. The A2-Level will account for the remaining 50% of the A-Level grade.
4. Does my child have to sit the A-Level exams at the end of the first year of study?
No. They can hold off on sitting their exams until the end of the second year of A-Level study. If they do not want to study further to attain a full A-Level qualification, they can sit exams at the end of the first year of study to attain an AS-Level qualification instead.
5. My child is currently studying NCEA Level 2. I notice that you do not have Differentiation DVDs available for NCEA. If I had to buy your Cambridge Differentiation Series would this still be useful?
Absolutely. Most topics covered in the Cambridge Syllabus are also covered under the NCEA Curriculum. You may find that certain differentiation rules that are covered under Level 2 NCEA are only covered under the second year of Cambridge A-Levels (Pure Mathematics 2). That said, they may be some additional content.
Other Curricula/Syllabi

Our tuition programmes offer indepth and detailed coverage of each topic they present. If you need assistance in matching NCEA or Cambridge tuition programmes, please feel free to contact us.
